Key Performers Return For Kenmore West

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.- One of the most important positions to have filled heading into any season, is your quarterback. Some of the toughest challenges high school football coaches face is deciding who will be the starting quarterback. Fortunately for Rich Harris and Kenmore West, this isn’t a challenge they face heading into 2013.

Adam Fron, Kenmore West’s quarterback, is one of many key players returning for the Blue Devils this year. Coach Harris points out other guys he’s happy to have back in 2013.

“We’ve got a lot of returning guys. We took a little step backwards last year; we were two time division champs to two prior years and we kind of finished in third place last year. We had a lot of young players on the team and got everybody back. We’ve got a lot of speed out at the skilled positions, we’ve got a great quarterback 6’4″, Adam Fron’s been working real hard in the off season. He’s been working with personal trainers and quarterback coaches,” Coach Harris told Two on Your Side’s Adam Benigni at the Lions Ad-Pro All Star Game.

Coach Harris continued to point out other guys to look out for on Kenmore West this year. “We’ve got a great running back in Alex Price. He ran for over 1,000 yards so he comes back as a senior. So we’ve got a lot of great skilled players all with great speed, great hands. We’ve got the whole offensive line back and it’s an all senior line with great skilled players expected to score some points,” Coach Harris said.

Those players returning were definitely tested last season. They faced some tough opponents last year but Coach Harris uses those as learning experiences.”We played in some great games last year. We had Sweet Home cross over as a non division game, ended up going all the way to the state finals. They played real tough with them, I mean that was a great learning experience for them. We played Orchard Park last year, we played Lockport in what could have been our divisional championship that went down to the fourth quarter. Chambers broke loose on us like he did everyone else so that was a great learning experience for them and they’ve been hungry to return to this season,” Coach Harris pointed out.

Heading over to this year’s schedule, it doesn’t seem to get any easier from 2012. “It should be an interesting year this year in the AA’s you know it’s gone to one division. We’ve kind of got the South and North teams mixed up. We start out in a tough game with Lancaster and then we’ve got Jamestown coming to town in the second week and they’re going to have a nice football team as well,” Coach Harris said.

Once again, Kenmore West opens the 2013 season at home against Lancaster on September 7th at 2pm.
