Boys basketball games between Laconia and Kettle Moraine Lutheran are rarely boring, but they also aren’t usually as entertaining as Tuesday’s contest. Laconia beat Kettle 82-78 in overtime in Jackson.
Tyler Semenas led Laconia with 26 points, Noah Greve added 18 and Nick Vollmer had 17. With the points flowing, Kettle’s Drew Liebner had the game high with 27.
Greve added eight rebounds and four assists. Jacob Huebschman also had four assists.
“Every year its a dogfight with those guys,” said Laconia coach Tom King “It’s whoever has the ball last wins.”
The fourth quarter was back and forth, but Laconia took a quick lead in overtime with Vollmer scoring off a backcut and then hitting a 3-pointer to get the early lead. The Chargers fought back and had a chance off penetration near the end of overtime but the shot rolled out and the Spartans grabbed the rebound.
“It was high paced, high energy, everything you want in a game,” said Kettle coach Todd Jahns. “They’re 19-0 because they can withstand a lot of runs. They don’t get rattled.”
