Lacrosse teams look to make run at state

The Fort Collins unified lacrosse team begins its second season under coach David Shigekane and will look to improve on a run to the quarterfinals of the state tournament a season ago.

Shigekane’s squad went 10-5 last season and earned a top 10 ranking in the state.

Ranked No. 9 in 5A by the Denver Post preseason poll, Fort Collins will return several key athletes, including Jackson Archer, Jules Richards and Toby Bollig.

Shigekane said he expects his squad to give 100 percent and compete hard regardless of the situation.

This is the first season Colorado has had two classifications for lacrosse, and in the 4A preseason poll, Windsor is ranked No. 8 and will look to make a run toward the first-ever 4A lacrosse championship.
