Lansing's Will Koll, Connor Lapresi win wrestling titles

Will Koll and Connor Lapresi of host Lansing won individual titles to highlight the local showing at the Section 4 Class C championship tournament on Saturday.

Koll, a junior who won the 113-pound state title last year, decisioned Unatego’s Austin Ryan, 16-4, to capture the 126-pound championship. And at 138, Lapresi pinned Tioga football standout Jesse Manual in 4:30 to win the title.

Also scoring points for the Bobcats was Mike Cree, who pinned Spencer-Van Etten’s Chase Northrop in 2:20 to take third place at 106 pounds.

Lansing finished eighth out of 11 teams in the tournament, scoring 821/2 points. Other Interscholastic Athletic Conference teams competing included Tioga (fourth, 1651/2), Watkins Glen (sixth, 1581/2), S-VE (ninth, 41) and Trumansburg (11th, 18).

* CLASS D: Odessa-Montour’s Joe Rorick and Bill Bacon won their weight classes at the Section 4 Class D championships at Unadilla Valley.

Rorick was a 9-0 winner over Candor’s Shaughn Standinger in the 106-pound finals.

Bacon pinned Austin Lewis of Unadilla Valley in 3 minutes, 7 seconds to win the 126-pound title.

Oxford won the team title, with Delhi second and O-M third.
