Mitina Kakalis completed her hat trick with five seconds left in the second half Wednesday afternoon to break a tie and lift the Rutgers Preparatory School girls lacrosse team to an 8-7 victory against South Plainfield.
Kakalis finished with three goals and four assists, and teammate Liz Mulvey added three goals and two assists.
Emily Pattenger’s six goals paced South Plainfield, which tied the score with 27 seconds remaining. It was the second of the three goals scored by the teams in the final minute.
Delaware Valley 11, Bernards 7: Lilly Pearce, Caroline Vath and Kristen Vath all scored twice to lead Delaware Valley (2-0). Tegan Warren recorded a hat trick for Bernards (1-1).
Mount St. Mary 17, Immaculata 11: Katherine Gagliano scored five goals and Chaselyn Palumbo added four to pace Mount St. Mary (1-0). Kelsey Graham recorded a hat trick for Immaculata (0-2).
Voorhees 15, Somerville 7: Katie Koller scored five goals while Jenny Maher and Hannah Ryan each connected four times to lead Voorhees (1-1). Dakota Pastore struck four times for Somerville (1-1).
