Lincoln rallies past FAMU

The Lincoln girls flag football team defeated FAMU High, 13-12, Wednesday night to hand the Rattlers their first loss of the season.

The Trojans trailed by six points in the fourth quarter. After Lincoln’s quarterback Raquel McArthur found Shannon Norton down the right sideline for a nice gain, McArthur took the next snap herself and gave the Trojans the lead.

Also trailing in the first quarter, Lincoln struck back when Georrina Jones found Courtney Robinson down the right side for a 68-yard touchdown.

“I knew it was coming my way,” Robinson said. “I knew I was gone once I caught it. It was a big play and it gave us the lead. I was kind of mad after they scored in the first quarter and I play better mad, so I was ready to make a play.”

FAMU quarterback Raygene Garner threw for a touchdown, had 70 yards rushing, and also had a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter. Taylor Kirby-James also caught a touchdown for FAMU High.

“It was a tough game tonight against a good team,” FAMU coach James Brown said. “They just made a few more plays in the end and came away with the win.”
