Michael Capicotti scored 39 seconds into the second period Saturday to lift the fifth-raniked McQuaid Jesuit boys’ hockey team to a 1-0 victory over Ithaca High Saturday in the regular-season finale for the Little Red.

Nate Pennington got the assist on the goal, which came on a low shot from the point that whistled through a maze of players and past Ithaca goalie Brandon Kasel.

“I don’t even think Brandon saw it,” Ithaca coach Paul Zarach said of Kasel, who made 30 saves.

Brian Kick made 12 saves for McQuaid (14-5-1).

Ithaca has a scrimmage scheduled for Monday at The Rink in Lansing against top-ranked Cicero-North Syracuse, then plays scrimmages at Skaneateles on Wednesday and at Monroe-Woodbury on Feb. 22.

Ithaca will play the Section 6 champion in the state regional playoffs on March 2 in Buffalo.
