The Homer High girls’ cross country team placed first out of 27 teams at the Pittsford Invitational on Saturday, and Homer’s boys’ squad placed 10th out of 28 teams.
The event featured four races divided by classes. Athens’ girls’ and boys’ results appeared in Sunday’s Enquirer.
On the girls’ side for Homer — which won the MHSAA Division 4 state title last season — in the senior race, Amanda Reagle was first in 19:36. In the junior race, Jessica Reagle was first in 19:56, Bailey Manis third in 21:38 and Alta Gillham 20th in 24:46. In the sophomore race, the top Trojans were Kayla Kline (7th/22:35), Kirsten King (11th/24:51), Ashton Salow (16th/26:02), Lauren Hamilton (18th/26:21); and Emilee Sibal (38th/32:56). In the freshman race, Anna Willis was sixth in 22:11. The Homer junior and sophomore girls took home runner-up trophies in their races.
On the boys’ side, leading the juniors for Homer were Austin Yeakey (5th/18:44), Dylan Hamilton (7th/18:57) and Hunter Weeks (29th/21:02). Leading the seniors were Dakota Glassburn (25th/20:04), Tom Marvil (26th/20:15) and Kyle Trout (27th/20:40).
Also at the site, Marshall’s boys finished in second place with 26 points. The Redhawks’ top finishers were Kurt Swaton, Weston Herman, Chris Bell, Calvin Smith and Vasiliy Turner (no individual places or times were made available to the Enquirer).
K-Central Invite (Sat.): Coldwater, which recently clinched its first SMAC East title, went 2-1. The Cardinals (9-2) beat Hartford 1-0 and Bangor 6-0, and lost to K-Central 2-0.
On the day for Coldwater, Nooh Aljabaly had three goals an an assist; Mohamed Aljabaly had a goal and an assist; Fadel Said and Ian Wright had goals; Talel Alslehay, Derek Carr, Andrew Barnes and Azam Ahmed had assists; and Wright played the majority of nets.
