The Beacon High School boys golf team placed first in Thursday’s quad-match at McCann Memorial Golf Course, with four Bulldogs combining for a score of 182.
Putnam Valley was second with 194, followed by Pawling with 211 and Dover with 237.
Individually, Beacon took the top three spots. James McQuade earned medalist honors, carding a 7-over-par 43, with teammates Chris Sbarra and Tyler Ericson each shooting 45s. Mark Murphy added a 49.
Joe Merendino led Pawling with a 50, and John Fontana shot 48 for Dover.
Olivia Oppenheim scored four goals, including the 100th of her career, but 12th-seeded Wappingers lost 20-5 to fifth-seeded White Plains, in the first round of the Section 1 Class A tournament. Oppenheim’s milestone goal came with 1:35 left in the game.
Dana Volk also scored for the Warriors, who finished their season at 4-13.
“The girls played a really tough game,” Wappingers coach Kerri McConville said. “It was a tough loss, but they didn’t give up as a team and they helped Olivia Oppenheim reach her 100th career goal.”
Mahopac 18, Arlington 10 — Katie Curran scored four times in Arlington’s season-ending loss on the road in the Section 1 Class A playoffs.
Jenny Caoili added three goals, while Janna Eljamal scored twice and Taryn Murphy added one goal.
Arlington ends the season 7-10 overall.
Chris Schlappich had two goals and three assists as the host Highland Huskies defeated the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks 10-8.
Steven Beck added two goals and three assists and Thomas Hollway also scored twice. Adam Cardella, Quinn Halligan and Sal Mazzella also scored for Highland (8-6).
Highland goalie Dominic Bellacicco made 21 saves.
“He played great for us in goal and really saved the day,” Highland coach Tom Schlappich said.
Wappingers 6, Clarkstown South 4 — The ninth-seeded Warriors won on the road over the eighth seed to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Section 1 Class A tournament.
Danny Kugler scored three times for Wappingers, while Joe Fusco scored twice and goalie JD Lemay made 10 saves.
Wappingers will play North Rockland, the tournament’s top seed, on Saturday.
Millbrook 15, Washingtonville 14 – Rory Shoemaker scored five goals and added an assist, as his Blazers prevailed in overtime.
Teammate Ryan Waters scored four goals, contributing an assist, and Ian Olson’s third goal of the game decided the outcome.
Bronxville 20, Haldane 2 — The visiting Blue Devils lost in the first round of the Section 1 Class C tournament.
Rondout Valley 16, Franklin D. Roosevelt 2 — Alex Makowicki and Billy Lysenko each scored in the road loss. The Presidents dropped to 4-11.
For Rondout Valley (14-0), Keith Malak scored four goals, and Andrew Koonz and Gabe Carbone contributed three apiece.
Valley Central 7, Red Hook 3 — Ian Taylor scored twice, and Tong Guerra added a goal, but the visiting Raiders lost late Wednesday.
Austin Loeffel made 10 saves for Red Hook (7-8).
Arlington’s Sean Gorwara lost in the quarterfinals of the Section 1 tournament to John Jay-Cross River’s Frank Kote, 6-2, 6-3.
Kote defeated Our Lady of Lourdes’ Kyle Fraser, 6-1, 6-1, in the previous round, while Gorwara topped Ardsley’s Sam Khym, 6-2, 6-2. Frasier beat Keio Academy’s Rikuto Matsukura, in the first round, 6-4, 6-0.
