The boys lacrosse team from Millbrook High School toppled John S. Burke Catholic 14-13 in overtime Friday behind six goals and three assists from Rory Shoemaker. Ian Olson scored the game winner.

The Blazers’ Ryan Waters tallied five goals and two assists, Tyler DuBois provided two goals and three assists, and Conor O’Donnell made 16 saves.

Wappingers 6, Clarkstown South 4 — The Warriors won on the road late Thursday to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Section 1 Class A tournament.

Bronxville 20, Haldane 2 — The visiting Blue Devils lost Thursday in the first round of the Section 1 Class C tournament.

Girls lacrosse

Millbrook marched past Highland 13-3 on Senior Day, with Julia Galantich scoring five goals and Monica Koralus adding four goals and four assists.

Liz Halpin and Julia Berti each added two Blazers goals. Millbrook (10-5) secured the second seed in the Section 9 Class C playoffs and will play No. 3 Burke on Thursday.

Jeanette Bender, Sam Mazzela and Julia Quinn scored for Highland.

Mahopac 18, Arlington 10 — Katie Curran scored four times in Arlington’s season-ending loss on the road in the Section 1 Class A playoffs late Thursday.

Jenny Caoili added three goals, while Janna Eljamal scored twice and Taryn Murphy once.

Scholastic crew

Competing at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta on Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River, John Jay’s Kyle Mabry qualified for today’s semifinals of the boys varsity single event by placing sixth in time trials.

Poughkeepsie’s girls senior double of Julia Rigothi and Kara Pritchard placed seventh to qualify for the semifinals.

Collegiate softball

Eighth-seeded Dutchess will play in the winners’ bracket final today at the NJCAA Division III National Championship against second-seeded Herkimer at 2 p.m., at the McQuillan Softball Complex in Rochester, Minn.

The Falcons earned that right by defeating top-seeded Brookdale 4-2 and No. 4 Monroe 6-4 on Thursday.

Ketcham grad Abby Canning struck out 15 in the two wins. Canning and Beacon’s Erin Correa and Sara Laurelli scored vs. Brookdale. Canning scored twice vs. Monroe.

Collegiate baseball

After seven seasons and a 121-142 overall record, Matt Griffiths stepped down as the head coach at SUNY New Paltz, the school announced.

Griffiths started as an assistant coach with the Hawks in 2004, taking over the head job three years later.

Boys tennis

Arlington’s Sean Gorwara lost in the quarterfinals of the Section 1 tournament to John Jay-Cross River’s Frank Kote, 6-2, 6-3, late Thursday.

Kote beat Lourdes’ Kyle Fraser 6-1, 6-1 in the previous round, while Gorwara topped Ardsley’s Sam Khym, 6-2 6-2. Frasier beat Keio’s Rikuto Matsukura 6-4, 6-0 in the first round.
