Local roundup: Red Hook boys run to a win against Pine Plains

Declan Dwyer-McNulty, Alex Gilbert and Nick LaBarbera each won a pair of individual events as the host Red Hook High School boys outdoor track and field team defeated Pine Plains in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League meet on Wednesday, 76-65.

Dwyer-McNulty placed first in the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 54 seconds and won the 3,200 (10:57). Gilbert won the 400 (52.3) and 800 (2:21). LaBarbera crossed the finish line first in the 100 (11.7) and 200 (25.1).

Alex Graczkowski won the 110 high hurdles (16.5) and 400 intermediate hurdles for Pine Plains (1:01.5). Jonah Staires won the shot put (34 feet, 10 ¼ inches) and high jump (6-0) for the Bombers.

Webutuck 62, John A. Coleman Catholic 52 — Robert Rinaldi, Owen Lynch, Glen Gilbert, Andrew Hoke, Kristian Murtagh, Johan Gonzalez and Liam Corcoran each won individual events as the host Warriors edged the Statesmen.

Onteora 98, Rhinebeck 84 — Chris Cassano and Andrew Chardavoine each won two individual events, but the host Hawks lost an MHAL meet.

Cassano placed first in the 100 (12.1) and long jump (16-11). Chardavoine won the shot put (45-0) and discus (130-7).

Saugerties 117, Millbrook 19 — The Blazers’ Henry Cardinal won the 100 (11.7) and 200 (23.7), but visiting Millbrook lost an MHAL meet.

New Paltz 100, Spackenkill 32 — Three Huguenots won multiple events late Tuesday, including Romikeo Duzant (100, 200), Alfredo Mazzuca (1,600, 800) and Anthony Bonilla (triple jump, high jump).

Wayne Bowden won a pair of events for the Spartans, the 400 hurdles and the long jump.

Dover sweeps — Dover defeated Rondout Valley late Tuesday, 111-29, and host Marlboro, 72-69, in MHAL meets. Marlboro beat Rondout Valley, 95-43.

Girls track and field

Grace Weisbecker won four individual events as host Red Hook defeated Pine Plains, 103-38.

Weisbecker placed first in the 100 (13.4), 100 high hurdles (17.1), long jump (14-5) and pole vault (11-0). Olivia Popovitch and Rachel Seymour each won two individual events for Red Hook.

Onteora 95, Rhinebeck 37 — Briana Schwartz won the discus (63-6), but the host Hawks lost an MHAL meet.

Coleman 79, Webutuck 29 — Claire Markonic won the 400 (1:08.7) and 200 (30.0), but the host Warriors lost a home meet.

Saugerties 108, Millbrook 28 — Mary Kate Bida won the 3,000 in 11:12.4, but the visiting Blazers lost an MHAL meet.

New Paltz 97 1/2, Spackenkill 34 1/2 — The Butler sisters led the Huguenots late Tuesday. Cora Butler earned wins in the long jump and triple jump, Honour Butler prevailed in the 800 and the 400 hurdles, and Willa Butler won the 1,500.

Boys lacrosse

Danny Kugler and Joseph Fusco each finished with three goals and an assist, but the Wappingers Warriors lost to North Salem, 10-8.

Tim Malile (three assists) and Jared Sanchez scored a goal apiece in the loss.
Middletown 14, Roosevelt 4 — Jack Coppola scored twice and Aiden Burkhard and Ryan Winkler both tallied, but the Presidents lost on the road.

Somers 6, Arlington 5 — Brendan Sunday had a goal and three assists and J.D. Colarusso made 14 saves as the visiting Admirals lost late Tuesday.

James I. O’Neill 6, New Paltz 5 — Avery Sells scored twice, but the visiting Huguenots lost late Tuesday.

Rondout Valley 5, Red Hook 4 — John Alessi, Max Spagnoli, Drew Zarrella and Tong Guerra scored for the visiting Raiders, who fell in Accord late Tuesday.

Saugerties 8, Rhinebeck 5 — Roan Gideon led visiting Rhinebeck late Tuesday with four goals. Sam Every added one goal.

Boys golf

Matt Mahlke carded a 1-over-par 36 at Dutchess Golf Club, leading the Arlington Admirals to a 210-239 win over Our Lady of Lourdes.

Nick Turenchalk turned in a 42 to help keep the Admirals (6-0) unbeaten .

Kevin Ventosa’s 41 led the Warriors (2-6), who play North Rockland today at Trump National Golf Club, Hudson Valley.

Girls golf

Allie Fischer’s 49 led Wappingers to a 287-294 victory over visiting Beacon at par-36 Beekman Golf.

Marissa Bennett and Justine Caputo each shot 55 for the Warriors (2-3), who host Clarkstown North on Tuesday.

Emily Eraca’s 52 paced Beacon (2-2) with a 52.

New Paltz 145, Highland 173 — Bernice Lee fired a 40 at the par-35 Apple Greens Golf Course late Tuesday to lead the Huguenots (2-1). Alice Lee added a 56.

Caroline Roberto’s 43 paced Highland (0-2).

Girls lacrosse

Sam Mazzella had both Highland goals in an 18-2 loss to host James I. O’Neill in Highland Falls.
Red Hook 16, New Paltz 4 — Caitlin Swanson had six goals and Olivia Bemis added five as the visiting Raiders defeated the Huguenots.
Kylie Murphy scored twice for New Paltz.
North Salem 9, Lourdes 7 — Meghan Riccardi and Catherine Gallery each scored for visiting Lourdes (1-3), which lost.
Carmel 19, Beacon 4 — Gabi Kerr, Jessica Musacchio, Aneesa Vika and Jasmine Buckley all scored for the Bulldogs (0-4) in the loss.
Beacon will visit Lourdes on Friday.

Men’s tennis

Lorenzo Rossi won in straight sets at first singles as host Marist won its seventh consecutive match with a 7-0 triumph over Saint Peter’s.

Collegiate softball

The SUNY New Paltz Hawks beat Mount Saint Mary in both ends of a non-league doubleheader, 9-1 and 7-1.

Meg Brewer was 4 for 4 for the Hawks in the opener.

Columbia 3-3, Marist 1-1 — Aly Klemmer was 3 for 6 in a road doubleheader as the Red Foxes (15-19) fell late Tuesday.

Women’s lacrosse

Ashley Miller had four goals as host Marist defeated Iona 19-5 to improve to 7-8.

Vassar 18, Western Connecticut State 14 — Isabelle Goldstein scored seven goals as the visiting Brewers prevailed late Tuesday.

Women’s tennis

Marielle Campbell won in straight sets at fourth singles as Marist swept Saint Peter’s 7-0 at home late Tuesday.
