Lomira wrestling dominates Hilltoppers


The Lomira wrestling team improved its record to 18-0 by beating St. Lawrence 67-6 on Thursday night in a home Flyway dual meet.

The Lions finished with seven pins in the match, including the first five wrestled matches of the night. Starting at 160 pounds, Jordan Michael started the run of falls in 57 seconds. Ethan Cook (182), John Wager (195), Justin Thill (220) and Jacob Krider (106) kept the success going. The team’s other pins belonged to Mitch Garriety in 5:08 at 132 and Tyler Scharschmidt in 52 seconds at 145.

While Lomira dominated in the win column, the Hilltoppers’ Joseph Nguyen won the best match of the night according to Lomira coach Dave Meyer. Nguyen trailed early to Lomira’s Cayden Wiese, but rallied to send it to overtime, when he got a takedown to earn the 10-8 decision.
