* Notes: The defending state champion Jaguars have rolled through the postseason so far, with their only real test a 4-3, 12-inning victory over Bullitt East in the district final. … Meyer, who has signed with the University of Louisville, is the catalyst at the top of the lineup, leading the team in batting average, runs and stolen bases. … The return of Gray to the middle of the lineup has been key. The transfer from Ballard missed 23 games with a stress fracture in her right foot before returning in the regional semifinals. She hit a three-run homer in the regional final against Butler. Tonight Mercy will face Oldham County, a team the Jaguars beat 8-2 on April 16.

* Notes: The Lady Bulldogs are in the state fastpitch tournament for the first time (they reached the slowpitch tournament in 1994). … Wireman has done it all for Male, sporting an undefeated record as a pitcher and leading the offense in batting average, triples (six), runs and stolen bases. … Johnson plans to walk on at Western Kentucky. Ginter has signed to play field hockey at Bellarmine. Male will face No. 4 Scott County today. The Lady Bulldogs handed Scott County two of its four losses, 1-0 on May 8 and 4-1 on May 11. “I don’t necessarily believe that it’s hard to beat a team three times,” Bloomer said. “I just think it’s hard to beat that team one time.”

No. 12 Oldham County (33-5-1)

* Coach: Steve Leanhart (third season, 95-22-1 record).

* Top pitcher: Leanhart (29-5, 1.29 ERA, 234 Ks/206 IP).

* Notes: Jessica Leanhart, daughter of the coach, has tossed 12 shutouts this season. … Two of the team’s six seniors have committed to play softball in college — Leaton at Dayton and Lopesilvero at Lake Land College in Illinois. … Oldham County suffered a blow early in the season when first baseman Kayla Rigdon injured a shoulder and was lost for the year. She was leading the team with a .571 batting average. In the April 16 loss to Mercy, “we left 11 runners on base and made three or four errors that gave them some runs,” Steve Leanhart said. “It just depends on who shows up, I guess.”
