The Mid-Prairie girls basketball team pulled away from Regina in the end and won a big Cedar Valley Conference game 55-44 Tuesday in Wellman.
The game was tied 36-36 with five minutes to play when the Class 3A fourth-ranked Golden Hawks went on a 13-2 run to pull away from the Class 2A No. 15 Regals.
Mallory McArtor had 13 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter for Mid-Prairie, and Meghan Redlinger had three key steals.
McArtor also had five rebounds and four steals, and Mariah Swartzentruber had 14 points and six rebounds.
Jenna Lehman had 17 points for Regina, Jordyn Lehman had 12 points and five steals, and Katie Wick had three steals and four assists.
Mid-Prairie is 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the CVC, while Regina fell to Regina 11-3 and 9-1.
* WEST HIGH 42, BETTENDORF 40: The Women of Troy led 33-20 at halftime, but the Bulldogs fought back to make it a close game in Bettendorf.
“We let them hang around, and they kept clawing and fighting,” West coach B.J. Mayer said. “We never lost the lead, but we missed some free throws down the stretch.”
Ally Disterhoft had 24 points for the Women of Troy, Danielle Craig had eight points and Mikaela Morgan added six points.
West is 10-3.
* IMS 54, WACO 33: Iowa Mennonite School led 14-6 after the first quarter and 32-10 at halftime in Kalona.
Kristin Davis had 24 points with six 3-point goals and four assists, Olivia Yutzy had 14 points, nine rebounds and three steals, Riley Schmieder had eight points, seven rebounds and six assists, Hannah Miller had eight points and three steals, and Hannah Gingerich had seven rebounds.
IMS is 6-10 overall and 6-9 in the SEISC.
* CENTER POINT-URBANA 64, CLEAR CREEK AMANA 46: The Clippers trailed 28-23 at halftime, but the Stormin’ Pointers opened the second half with a 13-4 run to pull away in Center Point.
Maliah Fligg had 21 points for Clear Creek Amana (8-7).
* WAPELLO 47, LONE TREE 38: The Lions fell to 7-8 with the loss in Lone Tree.
