Athletic achievement: He had led the Red Storm to an 11-1 record at the time of his selection. Through 12 games, Greenberg owned a 5-0 record and 0.66 ERA on the mound, and a .390 batting average with two home runs and 17 RBI at the plate. He was a Maine Underclass All-Star each of the past two seasons.
Academic excellence: Greenberg has maintained an A-minus average.
Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of Ronald McDonald House Charities, youth baseball programs and community cleanup initiatives, and has raised funds to aid a school in Haiti.
“Greenberg is an outstanding player,” said Brian Dill, head coach at Kennebunk (Maine). “He has great control of a fastball, curve and slider. He’s one of the top pitchers we’ve faced and he might be the best hitter.”
THE FUTURE: Greenberg will be a senior next year.
