TROY — Becca Dewing and Daniella Dean scored 12 points apiece for Maine-Endwell, which advanced to the Class A state basketball championship game with Friday’s 53-46 win over Harborfields.
The Spartans lost all of a 15-point lead in a four-minute span of the third quarter at Hudson Valley Community College, but went ahead for keeps when freshman Dean closed the quarter by converting a 3-point goal to make it 37-34.
Harborfields High, located in Suffolk County, was within 48-42 in the closing minute before Dean made good on five consecutive free throws.
Julie Yacovoni added 11 points and Victoria Dean 10 for Maine-Endwell (17-4), which came in ranked 10th in Class A. Third-ranked Harborfields closed with a 20-3 record.
