THE WINNER: Katrina Meserve


School: Falmouth (Maine)
Grade: Senior
Position: OH
Height: 5-foot-11

Athletic achievement: She led the Yachtsmen (15-2) to the Class A state championship this past season. Also the Player of the Year as named by the Maine Volleyball Coaches Association, Meserve slammed 97 kills while compiling a .554 kill percentage. She amassed 237 digs, 57 blocks and 45 service aces. Meserve totaled 13 kills and five blocks in the title-clinching victory against Scarborough (Maine).

Academic excellence: Meserve has maintained a 3.93 GPA.

Exemplary character: A member of Falmouth’s concert choir and band as well as the school’s photography and service clubs, she has volunteered as a youth volleyball referee and scorekeeper, as part of coastal cleanup efforts and on behalf of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.


“She is an all-around player that is full of potential,” said Lisa Curley, head coach of rival Gorham (Maine). “She dominated this game this year. Her skill is second to none in the league this year.”

THE FUTURE: Meserve remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
