Marlboro upends Wall in girls volleyball


Led by Grace Kenningham’s six aces, 12 kills and five digs, the host Marlboro girls volleyball team downed Wall, 2-1, in Shore Conference Class A North on Tuesday.

Teresa Dinah added 20 assists and two digs for the Mustangs (2-0, 1-0). Haley Unger contributed nine kills, two aces, three blocks and four digs.

Taylor Mitchell paced the Crimson Knights (2-1, 0-1) with four kills, five digs and 17 assists. Teammate Jess Stansfield put up six kills, five digs and three assists. Raquel Rudofsky added nine digs and three aces.


RUMSON-FAIR HAVEN 2, HOLMDEL 0: Eleni Sourlis handed two assists and added three digs and two aces, leading the visiting Bulldogs (2-1, 1-0) past the Hornets (0-4, 0-1) in Class B North.

Natalie Pellizzi contributed eight kills and three digs. Jordyn Swarda added three aces and three digs and teammate Nora Ryan notched five blocks, two kills and two digs.

For the Hornets, Tiffany Cheng scrapped for 12 digs and added five assists. Domonique Balsamo added nine digs. Lana Kandalaft contributed two kills and eight digs.

BARNEGAT 2, LONG BRANCH 0: Kelsey Ritner’s four aces and seven assists propelled the visiting Bengals (3-0) past the Green Wave (0-3) in nondivisional play.

Meg Nichols added two aces and four kills. Hannah Fitzmaurice contributed three kills. Lizbeth Flores paced the Green Wave with three digs.

JACKSON MEMORIAL 2, DONOVAN 0: Gianna Perez’s 19 assists and Kayla Martin-Culet’s 11 digs led the visiting Jaguars (3-0) past the Griffins (2-2) in nondivisional play.

Amie Sinor led the Griffins with six assists.

RED BANK 2, HOWELL 0: Megan Reardon, Erin Sacharanski and Abby Curtis powered the visiting Bucs (2-2, 2-0) past the Rebels (2-1, 0-1) in Class A North.

Reardon finished with three blocks, three kills and two digs. Sacharanski added nine assists. Curtis notched six kills.

Rebecca Foley led the Rebels with seven digs and nine assists. Alexandra Hartman added three aces and two kills. Tara Mircovich contributed six kills and four digs.

ST. JOHN VIANNEY 2, POINT BEACH 0: Paced by Victoria Wallace’s three aces, two kills, 12 assists and six digs, the visiting Lancers (3-0, 1-0) bested the Garnet Gulls (0-3, 0-1) in Class B North.

Megan McGrory added two aces, four kills and four digs. The Garnet Gulls’ Allison Butow finished with five kills and two digs.

RED BANK CATHOLIC 2, RARITAN 0: Morgan McLoud and Sara Benjamin paced the host Caseys (3-1, 1-0) past the Rockets (0-3, 0-1) in Class B North.

McLoud finished with four kills, three digs, three assists and five aces. Benjamin added four kills, two digs, four assists and three aces. Katelyn Eckstine (three aces) and Francesca Svoboda (three assists) led the Rockets.

COLTS NECK 2, FREEHOLD 0: Samantha Panicali’s seven aces and 10 assists led the host Cougars (2-2, 1-0) past the Colonials (1-1, 0-1) in Class A North.

Shannon Tice added four aces and five kills. Sara Weiss (two kills, three aces) and Laura Wrobelesky (five digs) led the Colonials.


MIDDLETOWN NORTH 2, COLTS NECK 1: Freshman forward Hailee Hallard’s first career varsity goal at 60 minutes gave the host Lions (1-1, 1-0) a win over Colts Neck (0-1, 0-1) in Class A North.

She scored off a corner from junior forward Jessica Livolsi, who notched her first assist of the season.

The Lions took a 1-0 lead at 32:20 on a goal by junior forward Cheyenne Rescorl on a penalty stroke. Colts Neck tied the game at 50:20 on a penalty stroke by Serena Valenso.


LAKEWOOD 2, PINELANDS 0: Senior midfielder Yosimar Arroyo’s corner kick sailed into the upper right corner with 26 minutes left in regulation gave the host Piners (1-2, 1-1) a win over the Wildcats (0-3, 0-2) in Class B South.

Lakewood senior forward Jorge Martinez headed the ball into the upper left corner off an Arroyo assist at 39 minutes, tying the match at one. Matt O’Connell staked the Wildcats to a 1-0 lead at 16:20 with a chip into the upper right corner from about 12 yards.

POINT BORO 1, CENTRAL 0: Dan Hunt scored the match-winning goal in the 96th minute for the visiting Panthers (2-0) in their double-overtime conquest of the Golden Eagles (1-1) in Class B South.

JACKSON MEM. 2, BRICK MEM. 0: Goals by Garrett Muzkowski and Joey Stolenberg paced the host Jaguars (3-0, 1-0) past the Mustangs (2-2, 1-1) in Class A South.

Muzkowski scored at 18:10. Stolenberg connected at 67:12.

JACKSON LIBERTY 4, MANCHESTER 1: Bryan Garry had two goals, Adam Haidi netted one goal and one assist and Brandon Piror added two assists as the Lions (1-1, 1-1) defeated the Hawks in Class B South.


CENTRAL 3, POINT BORO 2: Amanda Carolan’s two goals propelled the visiting Golden Eagles past the Panthers in Class B South.


COLTS NECK 3, MIDD. SOUTH 2: Gab Roth defeated Ciara Sullivan at second singles for the deciding point as the Cougars (1-0, 1-0) defeated the Eagles (0-2, 0-2).
