When Tyler Kluver returns to his home in Marshalltown, he’ll carry with him a big full of goodies from his experience at the Under Armour All-America Game.
he memories he’ll take back with him are even more valuable.
Kluver, a long snapper for the Bobcats, started in Friday’s nationally televised game on ESPN in St. Petersburg, Fla.
“This, for now, is one of the best experiences, events, and weeks that I’ve ever been a part of,” Kluver said in a telephone interview following the game. “I’m definitely never going to forget it.”
Kluver, a 6-foot, 215-pounder, is ranked by Kohl’s Professional Football Camps as the No. 2 long snapper in the nation for his class.
His skills at the position has attracted the attention of the Iowa Hawkeyes, where he’ll play next season. Read more about that here.
He’s now caught the attention of many more by strapping on his helmet and pads for former NFL coach and current ESPN analyst Herm Edwards who coached Kluver’s team.
“He’s the most inspirational person I’ve ever listened to,” Kluver said. “He’s a great talker. He’s a great motivator and I’m honored to have him as my head coach.”
Kluver, who is scheduled to return home on Saturday, isn’t leaving empty-handed. During his nearly week-long trip to Florida, he was given a variety of things from pants, shorts, shirts, and wristbands from the game. He’s stocked them all up in a bag which he’ll return home with.
“It’s hard to believe that I’m fortunate enough to be part of an experience like this,” he said.
Kluver said the event is something he’ll always remember.
“It was amazing,” Kluver said. “It gave me a good taste of hopefully what I’m going to experience at Iowa.”
