Maurer earns top district honor



Record-setting Granville quarterback Isaac Maurer capped his senior season by being named Central District Division III Offensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press.

Several of his teammates also earned all-district honors, as the Blue Aces finished 7-3 and tied for the Licking County League Big School Division championship with Licking Heights and Licking Valley.

Maurer completed 177 of 295 passes (60 percent) for 2,904 yards and 38 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. He set school records for season passing yardage, touchdowns and touchdowns in a game, twice throwing seven.

Joining him on first-team all-district for the Blue Aces were senior wideouts Ajay Alderman and Brock Hill.

Alderman caught 56 passes for 1,142 yards, a 20.4-yard average, and 14 touchdowns. He set a school record for 266 yards receiving in a game and also ran back two kickoffs for touchdowns.

Hill caught 51 passes for 1,106 yards, a 21.7-yard average, and 14 touchdowns.

Junior linebacker Patrick Oehlman was a second-team all-district choice. Center-defensive tackle Dane Heughebart and wide receiver-defensive back Hunter Orth made honorable mention.

Several Blue Aces also were honored on the All-Licking County League-Big School Division team.

Maurer, Hill, Alderman and Oehlman all made the first team.

Second-team selections included Heughebart, Orth, and linebackers Remington Larsen and Hayden Brown. Lineman Ian Huprich was honorable mention.
