Brentwood at Hillsboro

* Why: Brentwood (16-2, 1-0 11-AAA), ranked third in The Tennessean boys Midstate poll, extended its winning streak to eight with Tuesday’s 74-70 win over Independence. No. 5 Hillsboro (14-1, 1-0) has won five straight since losing to No. 4 Ensworth, including a 60-50 win Tuesday over Franklin.
G.P. West Invitational

* Why: Named for the longtime former Brentwood and Metro coach, the tournament features local powers such as Clarksville, Franklin, McGavock, Overton and Ravenwood as well as nationally ranked Christian Brothers, perennial Division II contender McCallie and Kentucky’s Fort Campbell and Union County.
Whites Creek at CPA
* When: Monday. 6 p.m.
* Why: CPA (12-4, 7-0 10-AA), the defending Class AA girls champion, faces a challenge from an upstart Whites Creek team that won just 16 games from 2010 to 2012. The Lady Cobras (13-3, 7-0) have won their district games by an average of 22 points.
Blackman at Siegel
* When: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.
* Why: Blackman (16-0, 2-0), ranked No. 2 in The Tennessean Midstate boys poll, is led by Darius Thompson (14.2 ppg), who has an offer from Vanderbilt. No. 6 Siegel (17-1, 2-0) has won 11 straight.
