After going winless on the road last season in Hoosier Crossroads Conference play, McCutcheon’s girls basketball team opened with a victory away from Resler Gymnasium this year.
Sydney Tracer and Kerstyn Lowery each scored 11 points to lead the Mavericks (2-3) to a 44-40 victory.
Despite a 2 of 12 shooting night, Gabby Gary added nine points for McCutcheon, and Katee Kurtz contributed seven on 3-for-3 shooting.
West Lafayette 50
The Red Devils had their hands full with Kristen Spolyar, who led the Tigers with 32 points and seven rebounds.
Lorelei Turner scored 20 points and pulled down five rebounds, while West Lafayette (2-4) got 11 points from Jessica Martin and eight from Madi Jacobs.

Angela Tharp drilled four 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 21 points, leading Class A No. 5 CC (3-1) to a victory in its home opener.
Emily Denhart supplied 15 points, and Maggie Bobillo added nine.
The Hot Dogs (1-4) were led by Mandi Boggs and Sam Henderson, who scored six points apiece.

Carroll avenged a one-point loss in the Indiana Kitchen Classic title game by sinking 11 3-pointers.
Carly Kingery led the Cougars with 16 points and five rebounds. Macy Willoughby added 15 points.
Tatum Minier led Delphi with 11 points.
Kassidy Bonebrake’s 18 points led three players in double figures for the Athenians (4-2).
Lacey Garrett added 16 points and Mary Greer scored 14 for Crawfordsville.
