Michigan signee Reon Dawson responds to backlash over Ohio State comment
After signing with Michigan on Wednesday, football recruit Reon Dawson professed his love for the Wolverines’ archrival — Ohio State. The Buckeyes never offered the Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) prospect a scholarship.
Dawson told the Dayton Daily News,
“Until I die, I’m gonna be a Buckeye fan, even though I’m going (to Michigan). When we play (OSU), I’m gonna still bring my ‘A’ game. But I love Ohio State.”
Yikes.

After some inevitable backlash, Dawson took to Twitter to defend himself by hashtagging #GOBLUE and re-tweeting some support from followers.
One comment came from fellow 2013 Michigan commit Mike McCray II, who tweeted:
Just got off the phone with Reon he said he didn’t say he loves ohio state he said”He loves the state of ohio”reporter changed up his words.

Okay. But that only explains his closing sentence.
It seems pretty unlikely that the reporter missinterpreted, “Until I die, I’m gonna be a Buckeye fan”.
Dawson might have some trouble explaining that one, but maybe he shouldn’t have to. It’s not as if he won’t be motivated to show Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes what they’re missing out on when they play Michigan.
