THE WINNER: Marion Crowder
School: Madison Central (Miss.)
Athletic achievement: She scored 37 goals and passed for 17 assists this past season, leading the Jaguars (18-3-2) to the Class 6A state quarterfinals. A member of the U.S. Soccer Federation U-18 Women’s National Team, Crowder is a First Team All-State selection and was named Miss Soccer by the Clarion-Ledger.
Academic excellence: Crowder has maintained a 3.70 GPA.
Exemplary character: She has volunteered locally on behalf of the U.S. Youth Soccer TOPSoccer program, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, food drives to benefit the needy and a homeless shelter.
“She’s extremely quick and her first step is outstanding,” said Thomas Bobo, head coach at Clinton (Miss.). “She has a great knack for scoring goals. She’s always been the one player you have to account for at all times.”
THE FUTURE: Crowder has signed with Georgia.
