Kayla and Kara Molnar got the Jackson Memorial field hockey team’s offense started and Lindsey Reist added some insurance as the Jaguars defeated visiting Toms River North, 2-0, in a Shore Conference Class A South game on Wednesday.

Kayla Molnar, a senior midfielder, scored with no time remaining in the first half off a penalty corner as Kara Molnar assisted on the play.

In the 50th minute, Reist, a senior forward, provided all the insurance the Jaguars (3-0, 3-0) would need with a goal and senior defender Sara Vallee had the assist on the play. Jaguars sophomore goalie Morgan Novak made six saves and Toms River North senior goalie Kaitlin Maguire made six saves for the Mariners (1-2, 1-3)

IN OTHER FIELD HOCKEY GAMES:

MONMOUTH 3, MATER DEI 1: Junior midfielder Kayla Hueston scored on a penalty stroke at 9:52 and senior forward Gianna Mauro scored the first of her two goals at 23:35 as the Falcons (2-1) jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead.

BRICK MEMORIAL 2, TR EAST 1: Stephanie Corino scored a goal for the Mustangs (2-1-1) leading thme to a Class A South victory over the Raiders (0-3). Brielle Cattley also scored for the Mustangs off an assist from Meghan Thorn.

IN BOYS SOCCER:

FREEHOLD TWP. 1, MIDD. NORTH 0: Nick Facendo scored the game winning goal for the Patriots (3-0, 2-0) in the 93rd minute giving them a Class A North victory over the Lions (1-1, 1-1). Nick Fasano controlled the ball out of the air and played the ball to Facendo who beat a defender and finished to the lower left corner of the goal.

COLTS NECK 3, MIDD. SOUTH 0: Jayson Tonelli scored two goals leading the Cougars over the Eagles in a Class A North game. Taylor Demick also scored in the 12th minute of the game, and Tice Smit recorded a shutout for the Cougars.

IN GIRLS SOCCER:

RUMSON-FAIR HAVEN 2, RED BANK CATHOLIC 1: Emma Gill scored the first goal of the game leading the Bulldogs (2-1) over the Caseys in a Class A Central game. Gill controlled a pass from Meagan McGurl and tucked the ball away to the lower left corner. Schuyler DeBree also scored off a penalty kick in the second half after teammate Allie Geiger was tripped in the box. Jenna Murcardo scored the only goal of the game for the Caseys in the 70th minute.

MATAWAN 1, NEPTUNE 0: Jaida Allison, a sophomore midfielder, scored the game-winning goal at 5:40 as junior midfielder Endila Radoncic assisted on the play. Matawan freshman goalie Kacey Lamberston made one save and Neptune senior goalie Alyssa Pojero made eight saves.

SJ VIANNEY 2, MANASQUAN 1: Monica Heil scored the game winning goal 27 seconds into overtime leading the Lancers over the Warriors in a Class A Central game. Patricia Arcidiacono also scored in the second half for the Lancers. Kaitlyn Calabro scored the only goal of the game for the Warriors in the 46th minute.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP 5, MIDDLETOWN NORTH 1: Olivia Pinto finished a pass from Nicole Whitley to the left side of the net for a 1-0 lead at 5:00 and Pinto added her second goal with a shot that was from the 6-yard line with Olivia Schwartz assisting on the play. Overall, Pinto finished with two goals and one assist and Whitley added one goal and two assists. Middletown North’s Taylor Lippi scored at 26:00 from a through ball from Annie Rozzo.

MANALAPAN 3, MARLBORO 1: Mary Grace Monahan scored 2:30 into the game after she received a through ball from Arianna Ferraro and took a shot from inside the box. Nicole Doherty gave the Braves a commanding 2-0 lead with her goal at 53:48 after she received a cross from Monahan and Doherty tapped the ball into the net just outside of the goalie’s reach. Marlboro’s Victoria Metelkine scored in the 70th minute.

IN GIRLS VOLLEYBALL:

JACKSON MEMORIAL 2, SOUTHERN 1: Kayla Martin-Culet scrapped for 25 digs and Gianna Perez handed out 28 assists, leading the host Jaguars (4-0, 2-0) past the Rams (2-2, 1-1) in Class A South.

Jackson’s Yuliya Myrovych added six kills. Brianna Roath contributed 12 kills. For Southern, Cece Hodgson notched 5 kills, 2 blocks and 14 digs. Alex Andriani added 19 assists and seven digs. Marina Felmly contributed 20 digs. Emily Miglin blasted home six kills.

Jackson won the second and third games 25-11 and 25-22 after losing the opener 25-6.

ST. JOHN VIANNEY 2, LAKEWOOD 0: Megan McGrory put six aces and three kills into the book for the visiting Lancers (4-0) in their nondivisional win over the Piners (0-4).

Haley Scheuer conrtributed three kills and two digs. Victoria Wallace passed out 13 assists and Laura Matsen finished with two aces and three kills for the Lancers. Jasmine Boyer led Lakewood with six digs.

TR NORTH 2, TR EAST 0: Danyelle Morales’ 12 digs and Sydney Binkley’s 16 assists powered the visiting Mariners (3-0, 2-0) past the Raiders (0-3, 0-2) in Class A South.

Aubrey Binkley added nine kills and two blocks. Amanda Wrightson contributed five kills and four blocks. Liz Kolesar led East with eight kills and 10 digs.

BARNEGAT 2, JACKSON LIBERTY 0: Led by Sara Ridgway’s three aces, six kills, three blocks and two digs, the host Bengals (4-0, 2-0) bested the Lions (2-1, 1-1) in Class B South.

Meg Nichols added three aces, seven kills and two digs. Kelsey Ritner contributed three aces and four digs. Jackson Liberty’s Adelle Hickman hustled for 17 digs.

TR SOUTH 2, BRICK 0: Katelyn Scherm’s 12 assists and Amanda O’Neill’s six kills and three aces powered the Indians (3-0, 1-0) past the host Green Dragons (0-4, 0-3) in Class A South.

Danielle Ferreri added seven kills. Nicole Vazquez led Brick with six kills, four digs and four aces.
