Ocean Township High School junior quarterback Royal Moore had an impressive debut on Saturday night.

Moore, who was a wide receiver last year, ran for 115 yards and a TD and threw three TD passes to lead the host Spartans to a 51-21 win over Manchester at Carrelli Field.

It was the first game for Ocean on the newly-installed FieldTurf playing surface at Carrelli Field. The field was dedicated at halftime.

Moore scored on a 13-yard run and his TD passes were 6 yards to fullback Dan Loizos and 34 and 28 yards to senior wide receiver Cole Mehr. All three of Mehr’s completions were for TDs.

Sophomore running back Tyler Thompson had a 72-yard TD run and compiled 239 yards on 27 carries.

Junior running back Marcus Blackman had a 20-yard TD run and senior defensive back Ryan McGuckin returned an interception 30 yards for a score.

Matt Fischer kicked a 24-yard field goal for Ocean, which will play at Neptune this Friday night in a key Shore Conference Class B North game.
