The Morris County Tournament seeds were announced for boys and girls basketball on Sunday. Defending champion Chatham received the top seed on the boys side, while West Morris was awarded the No. 1 seed on the girls side.
In the girls tournament, Randolph was named the No. 2 seed followed by No. 3 Morris Catholic, No. 4 Hanover Park, No. 5 Villa Walsh, No. 6 Mendham and No. 7 Chatham. Jefferson, the defending county champ, was given the No. 8 seed. The top seven seeds receive a bye into the first round.
The preliminary round must be played by this Saturday, Jan. 26 with games being held at the higher seed. First round games need to be completed by Feb. 2 and the quarterfinals will be played by Feb. 9. The semifinals will be played at Fairleigh Dickinson University on Feb. 15 and the final is set for Feb. 22 also at FDU.
On the boys side, the remaining top seven seeds are No. 2 Mount Olive, No. 3 Morristown, No. 4 Hanover Park, No. 5 Jefferson, No. 6 Delbarton and No. 7 Mendham.
Preliminary play begins this week with games being held at the higher seed. The first round must be played by Feb. 2 and the quarterfinals are set for Feb. 9 at Randolph High School. Game times are 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The semifinals will be held at the County College of Morris at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The final is slated for Saturday, Feb. 23 at CCM.
