Miguel Mosaquites is ready to play some soccer.
The Clear Creek Amana senior defender has been waiting through a chilly spring to get back outside on the pitch.
“We’ve been pretty mad about how cold it’s been and how much snow we’ve gotten,” Mosaquites said.
After making it to the state tournament last year, who can blame him for wanting to get starting on a return bid?
“First, we’re focused on winning as many games as we can in the regular season,” he said. “But in the long run, it’s what we’re trying to do.”
Mosaquites was part of a defense that allowed just 16 goals in 18 matches last spring. He also played linebacker on the football team in the fall. But his playing days will soon be over.
He’s planning to attend Iowa State in the fall and study criminal justice.
“I’ve always had being a police officer as a goal,” he said. “That’s always something I’ve wanted to do.”
