ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.-Canisius blanked Bishop Timon 30-0 Thursday night at Ralph Wilson Stadium to move into the Monsignor Martin league championship game against St. Joe’s.
The Crusaders opened the scoring in the first quarter when Qadree Ollison scored the first of three touchdowns on the night. Ollison scored from three years out to give the Crusaders a lead that would never be threatened. Canisius junior Michael Tarbutt added a 31 yard field goal before the first quarter ended so the Crusaders had a ten point lead when the second quarter began.
In the second quarter Mitchell Thomas picked off a Derick Simpson pass and returned it 23 yards for a touchdown. The Crusaders led 17-nothing at halftime.
Ollison added two more touchdowns in the second half. In the third quarter he scored from three yards out and in the fourth quarter Ollison had a 15 yard touchdown run. Ollison finished with 123 yards on 21 carries.
With the win Canisius moves into the Monsignor Martin League championship game against St. Joe’s. The Crusaders won the regular season matchup 21-0 at the Stransky Complex earlier this month. Kickoff at Ralph Wilson Stadium is scheduled for 7-pm next Thursday.
