ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.-St. Joe’s beat St. Francis 38-12 Thursday night in a Monsignor Martin semifinal matchup at Ralph Wilson Stadium. With the win the Marauders move into the Monsignor Martin League championship game next Thursday night against Canisius.
St. Francis opened the scoring in the second quarter on a three yard touchdown run. St. Joe’s answered when Mike McCarthy hit Yusaf Osman for a 23 yard touchdown and the Marauders led 7-to-6. St. Joe’s took an eight point lead when McCarthy connected with Justin Jones on a 47 yard touchdown. After a huge kickoff return by Garth Pinnock St. Francis scored on a four yard touchdown run by Francisco Guzman. That was the last time the Red Red Raiders would get on the scoreboard.
St. Joe’s added two Nigel Davis touchdown runs, a Davis field goal and a 44 yard touchdown run by Myles Young.
Davis scored on runs of 35 and 41 yards and he kicked a 25 yard field goal. Davis was the leading rusher in the game with 16 carries for 143 yards.
With the win St. Joe’s earns a rematch with Canisius. The Marauders were beaten 21-0 by the Crusaders in the regular season matchup.
Kickoff for the Monsignor Martin League championship game at Ralph Wilson Stadium is scheduled for 7-pm next Thursday night.
