MTCS' Bonabi hurls no-hitter vs. Huntland

Philip Bonabi tossed a no-hitter on Tuesday and struck on 11 to lead Middle Tennessee Christian School’s baseball team to a 1-0 District 9-A win over Huntland.

MTCS (5-0, 4-0) scored the winning run on Lucas Smith’s RBI grounder that plated Joe Warner, who reached on a double. Kyle Howard, Lawson Pitts and Justin Winn each had a hit for the Cougars.

Riverdale 14, Coffee Co. 2

Collin Snider picked up his first win of the season as the Warriors improved to 8-4. Trevor Sutton was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and his fourth home run of the season, and Kaleb Swayze was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Community 3, Eagleville 2

Quinn Frost went the distance, allowing just two hits for Community. Justin Woodard and Tyler Vandagriff each had a hit for Eagleville, while Darin Knox and Clayton Kennedy each had an RBI. Britt Roberts allowed three runs in five innings of work for Eagleville.

Soccer

Smyrna 2, Lebanon 0

Ben Loveless and Derek Knotts each had a goal, Ramon Sandoval had an assist and Josh Perkins had a save for the Bulldogs, who improved to 5-0.

* La Vergne and Wilson Central battled to a 0-0 tie.
