John Glenn garnered three of the top honors as the All-Muskingum Valley League boys soccer team recently was released.
The team was selected by the league’s coaches.
Muskie senior Ross Mathews earned the MVL player and midfielder of the year honors, and freshman Zak Harper was named goalkeeper of the year.
John Glenn’s Kyle Porter shared the coach of the year honors with Tri-Valley’s Brad Elliott and Philo’s Matt Brown.
Maysville junior Parker Webb was recognized as the offensive player of the year, and Electric senior Tyler Cassady was the defensive player of the year.
The Muskies and Scotties, who shared the MVL title at 7-1-2, each had four players on first team. Mathews, Harper and juniors Ryan Hammer and Luke Klinehoffer represented John Glenn, and seniors Nick Hernandez, Drew Rector, Michael Rozsa and junior Mark Jonard made the team for Tri-Valley.
Other first-teamers were Webb, Cassady, Maysville senior Josh Ash, West Muskingum senior Zach Kimble and Morgan senior Koby Taylor.
The second team included Tri-Valley seniors Caden White and Dane Miller, John Glenn junior Paul Van Horn and sophomore Koen Riehl, Maysville junior Max Cooper and freshman Zack Mullinnex, Philo seniors Travis Butler and Heath Moyer, West Muskingum senior Logan Clark and junior Ethan Debolt and Morgan senior Sam Roberts.
Tri-Valley senior Braxton Mitchell and junior Trent Cox, John Glenn junior Mack Milatovich and sophomore Donny Ingold, Maysville senior Jerry Huggins and junior Wade Coe-Lewis, Philo senior Landon Miller and junior Nick Brannon, West Muskingum senior Wesley King and junior Hayden Medich and Morgan senior Dylan Downs and junior Josh Davis all were honorable mention selections.
Maysville finished third at 5-5 followed by Philo (4-4-2), West (2-7-1) and Morgan (1-8-1).
