Neenah, Xavier fall in doubles at girls' tennis state meet

The Neenah and Xavier doubles teams saw their hopes for WIAA girls’ tennis individual state tournament titles came to an end on Friday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.

In Division 1, Neenah’s Katherine Bosio and Christine Price defeated Bridget Brockmann and Alyssa Schinelfenyg of Waterford in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. In their second match of the day, they lost to No. 2 seed Mardee Merar and Katya Mikhailanko of Homestead 6-0, 6-0.

In Division 2, Xavier’s Megan Dubois and Alyssa Crew lost to Julia Veltinger and Taylor Benard of University School 6-1, 6-1.

In a late match Thursday, Neenah’s Jordyn Lawatsch, who had won her first-round match against Peyton Scherff of Mukwonago 7-5, 6-4, lost her second-round match to Siggy Ohnesorge of Madison West 6-1, 6-3.
