The Neenah doubles team of Matt Brooks and Andrew Juneau lost in the Division 1 quarterfinals at the WIAA boys’ tennis state individual tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison on Friday.
It was the third match of the day for the Rockets. Brooks and Juneau (22-9) lost to CJ Armbrust and Jed Sekaran of Marquette University High School 6-0, 4-6, 6-0.
The Neenah duo will play toward fifth place Saturday.
Brooks and Juneau defeated Ben Stewart and Jimmy Engelhart of Brookfield East 7-5, 6-1 in the third round after earlier beating Max Francis and Josh Taylor of Muskego 6-2, 6-1.
The Rockets’ other doubles team of John Price and Tylor Rosera got past Kurt Ahonen and Brennan Dougherty of Green Bay Preble 7-5, 6-3 in the second round but then lost to Greg Raster and Austin Budiono of Marquette University High School 6-3, 6-1.
Price and Rosera finished with a season record of 24-5.
In Division 2, Xavier singles player David Jumes finished the season with a record of 10-9 after falling 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in the second round to Thomas Ware of The Prairie School.
St. Mary Central’s doubles team of Bryce DeCoursin and Andrew Leibham lost to the top-seeded Nick DelMoral and Mark Cullen of Notre Dame 6-3, 6-2. The Zephyrs duo finished with a record of 16-2.
