For the second consecutive year, Michaela Nelson is an all-stater.

Nelson was named to the Class 5A first-team released by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

The 5-foot-10 Nelson led City High with 272 kills as the Little Hawks went 20-14 and advanced to the regional finals.

Nelson was second on the team with 213 digs and also had 26 blocks.

Mollie Mason of West High was an honorable mention selection in Class 5A.

Solon, which finished runner-up in Class 4A for the second consecutive year, had three players receive all-state recognition.

Senior libero Rylee Smith was a first-team selection in 4A after leading Solon and ranking seventh in 4A with 456 digs.

Junior Jordan Runge was a second-team all-state selection after leading Solon with 311 kills.

Junior Jordan Smith was an honorable mention Class 4A selection for the Spartans.

Regina senior Tori Owens was a third-team pick in Class 2A after leading the Regals to a 19-12 record and their first state tournament berth since 2003.

Owens had a team-high 454 kills, including 52 in a regional final win over West Branch.

West Branch junior Madison Russell was an honorable mention selection in Class 2A.

Iowa Mennonite finished the season 26-10, advanced to the regional final and had two players earn all-state honors.

Senior setter Casey Perez was a second-team selection while Olivia Yutzy was a third-team pick.

Perez had 619 assists and also was second on the team with 139 kills for Iowa Mennonite while Yutzy had a team-high 414 kills.
