Junior running back Jaree Parrish accounted for all three of Neptune’s touchdowns as the visiting Scarlet Fliers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 26-7 win over Freehold on Saturday at Freehold’s Cal D. Wilson Athletic Complex.

The win maintained Neptune’s position as one of the top eight teams in the NJSIAA Central Group IV power rankings. The Scarlet Fliers entered the weekend sixth in the section with 41 points. They picked up 10 power points for beating winless Group IV Freehold.

The top eight teams in the power rankings in each section through the games of Nov. 9 will qualify for the state playoffs.

Parrish had two TDs rushing and another on an 11-yard pass from senior quarterback Shakeem Richardson. Hunter Daly added a 32-yard field goal for the Scarlet Fliers (3-4, 2-3), who had absorbed tough losses to Brick Memorial and Red Bank Regional in their last two games.

Junior running back Josh Dixon scored the lone TD for Freehold (0-6, 0-4).

Neptune will play at Wall (3-3, 2-3) on Nov. 8 in its next game following a bye week. Freehold will play at Red Bank (1-5, 1-3) on Friday night.
