Athletic achievement: The son of the former NFL star won the high jump at the Division I state meet and led the Gaels to a 14th-place finish as a team. Cunningham cleared 7 feet, 3.25 inches in the high jump, setting a state record with a leap which ranked as the No. 1 performance among prep competitors in 2013 at the time of his selection. He was undefeated in the high jump this spring including victories at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Arcadia Invitational.
Academic excellence: Cunningham has maintained a 3.27 GPA.
Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally at an area homeless shelter and food bank, as a math tutor and as a youth football and track coach.
“Randall Cunningham is a freak athlete who has also done a great job of learning the techniques of the high jump,” said Tyrel Cooper, head coach of Arbor View (Las Vegas, Nev.). “He is one of the most impressive high school track athletes I have ever watched compete.”
THE FUTURE: Cunningham will be a senior next year.
