The Appleton North Lightning ran over the Fond du Lac Cardinals on the way to a 37-12 victory in Fond du Lac on Friday.

The two Valley Football Association teams play in separate divisions so the game was nonconference.

The rushed for 398 yards on 40 attempts.

Ethan Danz carried the ball 20 times for 221 yards, while Dan Rothbauer rushed for 133 yards.

The Lightning also limited what the Cardinals could do on the ground, holding them to 106 yards rushing on 39 attempts.

At Oshkosh, Tanner VanDeHey passed for 151 yards and a touchdown, but Oshkosh West rallied.

Trailing 14-7 at the half, Kaukauna appeared to take charge in the third quarter as Jacob Schmidt returned a 26-yard fumble for a score and Tanner Helms rushed for a touchdown from three yards out. VanDeHey closed out the quarter by finding Matt Lamers for a 47-yard TD to give the Ghosts a 28-17 lead heading into the final 12 minutes.

Oshkosh West’s Cole Yoder, however, ran for two fourth-quarter TDs.
