Cold, wet weather couldn’t stop the Oshkosh North Spartans girls soccer team from coming back.
The Spartans fought back from a goal down against the Ashwaubenon Jaguars to pick up a 2-1 overtime win on J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Thursday night.
North found themselves down 1-0 after a goal by the Jaguars’ Megan Schroeder in the 18th minutes. But that didn’t deter the Spartans.
“We had to stay positive and put some possession together,” North coach Sohaila Akhavein said.
They did just that and found the equalizer from Jessica Roberts 45th minute to knot the score at 1-1.
The game went to overtime after a few tense moments at the end of regulation. But North gathered themselves and picked up the win on an 84th minute goal by Brett Schellhorn.
“Going into overtime, those last ten minutes were a little nervwracking,” Akhavein said. “But we knew what we had to do and that’s exactly what we did.”
Nicole Herkert picked up an assist on Roberts’ goal. Meghan Ziegler stopped five shots to pick up the win for the Spartans.
