Oakland, Eagleville earn No. 1 seeds as playoff brackets announced

The 2013 TSSAA high school football brackets were released Saturday morning.

Six Rutherford County teams made the postseason, with Oakland (10-0) and Eagleville (9-1) earning No. 1 seeds in Class 6A and Class 2A, respectively.

Other teams qualifying for the postseason in Class 6A were Blackman (8-2), Siegel (7-3) and Smyrna (6-4). Middle Tennessee Christian School (6-4), which finished 0-10 last year, also qualified for the Class 2A playoffs.

Oakland will host eighth-seeded Wilson Central (6-4).

Blackman, which earned a No. 3 seed, will host district rival Smyrna, which earned a No. 6 seed.

Siegel, which earned a No. 5 seed, will travel to fourth-seeded Antioch (5-5).

In Class 2A, Eagleville, which will receive a bye in the opening round, will host the winner of the Loretto (5-5)/Mt. Pleasant (4-6) game on Friday, Nov. 15.

MTCS will travel to third-seeded Marion County (8-2) in the first round.
