Rutherford County opened up the final day of BlueCross Spring Fling with a bang.

Oakland distance runners Brock Baker and Conner Thompson finished first and second respectively in the 3,200 of the Class AAA division and Central Magnet junior Andre Hillsman won the school’s first state title in any sport by winning the 3,200 in the Class A/AA.

Baker won his second consecutive 3,200 title, winning in 9:01.99. Thompson finished behind him in 9:04.07. Thompson’s time was a personal best by seven seconds.

Hillsman outkicked M.L. King’s Sam Klockenkemper to win in 9:38.26. Klockenkemper finished in 9:38.81.

Baker is attempting to become the first Class AAA runner to win the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 since Knoxville West’s Dusty Miller accomplished it in 2003.

Simon Holden of Baylor won the Division II 3,200 in 9:28.09. Holden is attempting to win the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 for the second consecutive year.
