Senior guard Alex Cirlincione went 4-for-4 from the foul in the fourth quarter and finished with 10 points as he helped the Ocean Township boys basketball team defeat No. 4 Neptune, 55-52, in a Shore Conference Class B North game on Friday evening.

The Spartans (7-2, 4-1) trailed, 50-49, when senior center Eric Musto (10 points) made a layup with just under a minute to play to give Ocean the lead. Senior forward Harry Matarazzo and sophomore guard Royal Moore each added 12 points.

Neptune senior center Spencer Hubbard scored a team-high 16 points and junior guard Shakeem Richardson added 13 points. Neptune senior forward Keith Kirkwood didn’t play because he was on a football recruiting visit to Hawaii.

FREEHOLD TWP. 68, MANALAPAN 59: Sophomore forward Dan Saunders scored 11 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Patriots (6-4, 3-3) defeated the No. 6 Braves (7-4, 4-2), in a Shore Conference Class A North game Friday evening.

Senior center John Horrigan added 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter and sophomore guard Jason Czajkowski added 10 of his 14 points in the first quarter.

Manalapan senior guard Anthony Firkser scored a team-high 25 points senior guard Michael Pyzik and senior forward Justin Zak each added 10 points.

MANASQUAN 53, SHORE 48: Senior guard J.R. Hobbie scored nine of his game-high 18 points in the third quarter on three 3-pointers and senior forward Jimmy Walsh added 11 points and 13 rebounds as the No. 4 Warriors (10-1, 5-1) defeated the No. 7 Blue Devils (9-2, 5-1) in a Shore Conference Class A Central showdown.

Shore junior guard Dan Pillari had 14 points and sophomore guard Kevin Bloodgood added 11 points.

IN GIRLS BASKETBALL

MIDDLETOWN SOUTH 38, MARLBORO 34: With the No. 3 Eagles (10-0, 5-0) trailing by three at halftime, senior guard Jill Gannon scored six of her team-high 11 points as part of a 14-6 third quarter in a Class A North win over the Mustangs (6-4, 2-3), who were 24 hours removed from a win over one-loss Freehold.

Christiana Rutkowski added 10 points for Middletown South, while Marlboro got a game-high 18 point from Haley Unger.

MATAWAN 43, FREEHOLD 39: Lauren Postell scored six of her team-high 17 points in the second quarter and Montana Bertoli added 10 to lead the Huskies (8-2, 4-1) over the Colonials (7-3, 4-2) in Class B North.

Freehold was paced by senior guard Kim Dana, who scored eight of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP 58, MANALAPAN 52: Sophomore center Tori Wagner scored 13 of her 15 points after halftime, senior forward Ryan Jackson added a career-high 15 and the Patriots (4-6, 3-3) held off the Braves (2-9, 0-5) in Class A North.

Freshman point guard Harlie Kneller scored a career-high 12 points in the win, while Manalapan was paced by a team-high 10 points.

IN TRACK & FIELD

The Marlboro and Freehold Township boys teams sped to NJSIAA Group IV Relays championships at the John Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex on Friday night.

Marlboro won the 1600 sprint medley in 3:38.44. Freehold Township took the distance medley in 10:38.51. Running for Marlboro were Chaz Byrnes, Zack Vignola, Ruben Cruz and Brandon Mazzarella. Winning for the Patriots were Kevin Summonte, Kevin Edgeworth, Joseph Mazzarella and Dylan Tarpey.

The Freehold Township girls won the Group IV Relays title in the 4×800 meters (9:25.32) Thursday night. Competing were Jess Faith, Caitlyn Poss, Adrian Vitello and Emily Bracher.
