Athletic achievement: He won the Class 6A state championships in the javelin throw and the shot put this spring, launching the javelin 206 feet and hurling the shot 55-4. Brosseau also took third in the discus throw, leading the Pioneers to a fourth-place finish as a team. His title-winning throw in the javelin was ranked as the nation’s No. 6 performance among prep competitors in 2013 at the time of his selection.
Academic excellence: Brosseau has maintained a 3.79 GPA.
Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of a leadership program for elementary and middle school students.
“Beau is an inspiring combination of natural ability and hard work that comes along very rarely,” said Oregon City head coach Adam Thygeson. “He’s dedicated himself fully to his sport and he’s one of the hardest working athletes I’ve ever met.”
THE FUTURE: Brosseau has signed with Washington.
