The Orrville High School girls basketball team is set to make the program’s third Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament appearance – and first since 1993 – when the Red Riders (26-2) play Anna (24-4) in a Division III state semifinal contest on Thursday at Ohio State’s Value City Arena.
Orrville is ranked fourth in the final Associated Press state poll of the season. The Red Riders are led by senior Hannah Plybon. Plybon, a Northeast Inland All-District first-teamer, netted 42 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the team’s regional final win against Beachwood.
Orrville head coach Mark Alberts participated in a teleconference with state media members on Monday. Watch the above video to see what he had to say about his team and its historic season.
Tipoff for the state semifinal is set for 3 p.m.
