Oshkosh North did everything it could to draw even with West De Pere in the second half of its WIAA Division 2 regional final on Thursday night.

The Spartans just couldn’t come up with the goals they needed.

Aron Kumbalek’s rocket-shot from 30 yards was all the Spartans had to show for their second-half barrage as they fell to the Phantoms, 3-1.

West De Pere led 2-0 at halftime, but Kumbalek’s goal — which came on an assist from Elliott Dyer — was scored four minutes into the second half to draw North close.

But the Spartans could notch the tying goal and West De Pere’s Osvaldo Rameriz added an insurance tally for the Phantoms in the 68th minute.

North put 11 shots on goal in the match, compared to just three for West De Pere.
