A 9-4 lead heading into halftime was an accurate depiction of which way the Red Bank-Red Bank Catholic rivalry would fall as the Bucs (2-1) rolled to a 12-8 boys lacrosse victory over the Caseys (0-3) in a nondivisional meeting.

Red Bank senior midfielder Max Paris scored a game-high four goals — one in each quarter — while teammates Chris Manning, who also recorded three assists, and Karl Hottman each had two goals.

The Bucs also received goals from Steve Megill, who dealt out two assists, Tim Vilardi, Nick Caruso, and Jake Smolokoff, while freshman goalie John Pierce preserved the win with 19 saves.

The Caseys’ offense was led by Chris Whitlock and Tim Barile, who each netted a pair of goals. Whitlock also delivered three assists while teammate Tyler Leonard stopped 18 shots.

BRICK MEMORIAL 5, SJ VIANNEY 4: With 1:12 left in regulation, Brick Memorial senior attacker Dan Bury charged around to the right of the net and tucked his third goal of the game into the top corner for the eventual game winner, lifting the Mustangs over the Lancers in a nondivisional game.

Ryan Calmon added two more goals for Brick Memorial while Christian Byer led St. John Vianney with three goals. Mustangs goalie Chris Vanbrunt preserved the victory with 12 saves, while his counterpart, the Lancers’ Sean Sullivan, matched him with 12 saves of his own.

IN GIRLS LACROSSE:

MANCHESTER 18, MONS. DONOVAN 14: Kelli Serpi scored five of her game-high nine goals in the first half to lead the Hawks (1-2, 1-2) past the Griffins (0-1, 0-1) in a Class B North game.

Monsignor Donovan’s Shawna Ingraham scored six goals, and Sarah Smith scored five goals.

HOWELL 14, WALL 12 (OT): Maria Madsen scored four goals and had one assist as the Rebels (1-2, 1-2) rallied past the Crimson Knights (1-2, 1-2) in a Class A North game.

Chynna Chan and Jordan Chan each scored two goals. Wall goalie Emma Korolik made 22 saves.

OCEAN 16, MONMOUTH 10: Jenna Gilman scored four of her game-high five goals in the second half as the Spartans (3-1, 3-0) outscored the Falcons (1-2, 0-2) in a Class B North game.

Juniors Jenna Eustace and Bri Wolfe each scored three goals for the Falcons.

IN VOLLEYBALL:

COLTS NECK 2, RB CATHOLIC 1: Colts Neck’s Jack Lind added seven digs to a career-high 18 kills as the Cougars (4-1), who dropped the opening game by a score of 22-25, took the final two games by scores of 25-21 and 27-25 to topple the Caseys (1-1) in a nondivisional meeting.

Colts Neck’s Hongliang Zhang had two aces, three blocks, and eight kills, while Dan Clayman recorded a career-best 34 assists.

Red Bank’s Ryan Farley recorded four blocks, five digs, and 17 assists, and teammate JP Legrottaglie followed up with six kills, three aces, and 10 digs of his own.

MANCHESTER 2, MONS. DONOVAN 1: Doug DeSimone totaled eight kills, six digs and five aces as the Hawks (1-1, 1-0) upended the Griffins (1-2, 1-1) in a Class A Central matchup. The Hawks’ Antoine Brown added six kills, three digs, and two aces. Monsignor Donovan’s Tyler Broo added two blocks and three digs to his game-high 19 assists.

SJ VIANNEY 2, BARNEGAT 1: Christopher Lionette had 16 assists while delivering two kills and a pair of digs as the Lancers (3-1, 2-0) beat the Bengals (1-3, 1-1) in a nondivisional matchup. Barnegat’s Will Leamon led his team in kills (3) and blocks (2).
