Former Dallastown Area (York, Pa.) wrestling coach Matthew Striebig was cited for disorderly conduct last month for allegedly telling his wrestlers to hit another member of the team.
Why would he do that? The York Dispatch got the scoop from deputy prosector Chuck Murphy.
“One of the wrestlers was, for lack of a better term, passing gas,” Murphy said. “The comment was made that if he did it again, other wrestlers could hit him.”
The term, Mr. Murphy, is farting. Striebig allegedly told his wrestlers to hit a teammate because he was farting too much.
Dallastown Area School District Superintendent Ronald Dyer told the Dispatch that he thought Striebig’s comment was meant to be lighthearted and that his departure was unrelated to the alleged incident. The important news is that nobody was hurt.
When reached by the York Dispatch, Striebig, who must perform 35 hours of community service, declined comment.
“It’s not a very interesting story,” he said.
We beg to differ.
