Julius Saporito’s bases-loaded single past a drawn-in infield with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Chris Talbott and capped a three-run rally as Freehold Township rallied for a 6-5 win over Manalapan on Thursday in a Shore Conference Class A North game.

It was the second time this season Freehold Township defeated Manalapan by a run with a seventh-inning rally. It was also the second time Talbott scored the winning run against Manalapan. He hit a grand slam with two out in the top of the seventh in a 4-3 win on April 1. It is the third time this season Talbott has scored the winning run in the seventh inning or later.

Talbott’s RBI double pulled Freehold Township (4-6, 3-5) within a run and courtesy runner Joe Silvestrone scored the tying run on a wild pitch.

Joe Ellerman picked up his third win of the season, all in relief, by pitching two-thirds of an inning.

Matt Parke went 4-for-4 and scored three runs for Manalapan (2-6, 2-6).

ASBURY PARK 9, KEANSBURG 8: Steve Nonez hit an inside-the-park home run and the Blue Bishops (1-6, 1-6) scored six runs in the second inning and then held on for a win over the Titans (2-5, 2-5) that snapped a 26-game losing steak that dated back to a 14-3 win over Ranney on May 2, 2011.

It was the Blue Bishops’ first win over a Shore Conference team since a 17-16 win over Keyport on May 6, 2010. Ranney, which is now in the Shore Conference, was not a Shore Conference member when Asbury Park defeated it.

JACKSON MEMORIAL 7, TR SOUTH 2: Matt Guarino hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning when the Jaguars (7-1, 7-0), No. 1 in the Asbury Park Press Top 10, broke a 1-all tie they defeated the Indians (6-3, 4-3) in a Class A South game.

PINELANDS 2, BARNEGAT 0: Sophomore Chad Astemborski struck out nine and pitched a complete-game five-hitter to pick up his first varsity win and Anthony Blasco’s RBI single in the bottom of the first scored Bailey Taylor with the only run Astemborski would need as the Wildcats (2-5, 2-5) defeated the Bengals (3-3, 2-3) in a Class B South game.

HOWELL 8, MARLBORO 4: John Monahan scattered five hits over 41/3 innings of relief to pick up his first varsity win in his first varsity appearance and two runs scored on an error in a three-run fifth as the No. 5 Rebels (5-3, 5-3) rallied from a 4-1 deficit after three innings and defeated the No. 9 Mustangs (5-4, 4-4) in a Class A North game to snap a two-game losing streak.

BRICK 9, LACEY 6: Matt Olsen’s two-run triple highlighted an eight-run third inning that wiped out a 4-0 deficit as the No. 4 Green Dragons (5-2, 4-2) snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over the Lions (0-8, 0-6) in a Class A South game.
