Pinelands’ Julia Driscoll led theWildcats (9-3) to an NJSIAA South Jersey Group III first round win, 3-2, over Gloucester Technology on Thursday. Driscoll secured a point at third singles after she defeated Cassidy Shute 6-3, 7-5.

The Wildcats also had strong play at doubles, sweeping both first and second doubles positions. At first Jamie Cohalan and Dana Rose defeated Abby Gardner and Codie Di Giambattola 6-2, 6-4. Mikaela Crowley and Cassidy Buckey also clinched a point at second doubles after they defeated Kimmy Domminger and Angela Hall 6-1, 6-2.

The eighth-seeded Wildcats will play top-seeded Moorestown on Oct. 7.

IN OTHER NJSIAA MATCHES

WALL 5, MIDD. SOUTH 0: Sophie Graver secured a point at first singles leading the third-seeded Crimson Knights (11-2) over the 13th-seeded Eagles (4-5) in a Central Jersey Group III match.

Artemis Tapliga also won her match at second singles for the Crimson Knights after she defeated Ciara Sullivan 6-1, 6-1.

OCEAN 4, EWING 1: Alana Barofsky secured a point at second singles leading the sixth-seeded Spartans (8-4) over the 11th-seeded Blue Devils (2-11) in a Central Jersey Group III match.

Jacqueline Morgan also picked up a point at third singles for the Spartans who will play the third-seeded Crimson Knights in the second round.

IN BOYS SOCCER

POINT BEACH 2, ASBURY PARK 1: Joseph Laduca scored the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute leading the Garnet Gulls over the Bishops in a Class B Central game.

Ryan Prima also scored for the Garnet Gulls in the 12th minute, and Jose Cesaire scored the only goal of the game for the Bishops in the 32nd minute.

CENTRAL 2, JACKSON LIBERTY 1: Blake Czajkowski scored both goals for the Golden Eagles leading them over the Lions in a Class B South game. Czajkowski scored the game winner in the 42nd minute off an assist from Kyle Kaiser.

Aidan Benbrook scored the only goal of the game for the Lions in the 35th minute.

IN FIELD HOCKEY

FREEHOLD TWP 1, HOWELL 0: Freehold Township senior goalie Lori Brennan record her seventh shutout of the season and 20th of her career to break the school record for career shutouts as she helped the Patriots (7-2, 6-0) defeat the Rebels (1-4-2, 1-3-2) in a Class A North game. Sophomore forward Jessica Pietracatella scored her first career varsity goal at 1:28 as sophomore midfielder Sara O’Malley assisted on the play for the Patriots.

IN GIRLS SOCCER

BARNEGAT 1, MANCHESTER 0: Gianna Pelechaty scored the game-winning goal 7:45 into overtime as the Bengals (3-7, 3-5) defeated the Hawks (3-7, 2-6) in a Class B South game.

CENTRAL 6, JACKSON LIB. 0: Amanda Carolan had three goals and Nicole Buhagiar had one goal and one assist as the Golden Eagles (7-1, 7-1) defeated the Lions (3-7, 3-6) in a Class B South game. Central’s Linsey Mahnken had seven saves and Jackson Liberty’s Johanna Sisco made 12 saves.

TR SOUTH 2, JACKSON MEMORIAL 1: Taylor Troutman had two goals and Taylor Dean made nine saves as the Indians (9-8, 8-0) defeated the Jaguars (7-2, 6-2) in a Class A South game. Jackson Memorial’s Becky Collimore scored at 63:00 and Rachael DeJesus made six saves and Karyssa Niedt made four saves.

IN GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

WALL 2, LONG BRANCH 0: Taylor Mitchell’s two kills and 22 assists led the visiting Crimson Knights (8-1, 5-1) past the Green Wave (0-10, 0-5) in Class A North.

Veronica Portelli contributed six kills and two aces. Anna Litowinsky added five kills. Rahcel Noble and Jessica Stansfield notched six kills each for Wall. Lizbeth Flores paced Long Branch with six digs.

RUMSON FAIR HAVEN 2, HOLMDEL 0: Led by Eleni Sourlis and Natalie Pellizzi, the host Bulldogs (6-3, 5-1) bested the Hornets (0-11, 0-6) in Class B North.

Sourlis put 14 assists into the book. Pellizzi notched seven kills, five digs and two aces. Holmdel’s Tiffany Cheng had four digs and three assists.

RED BANK CATHOLIC 2, RARITAN 0: Sara Benjamin’s 10 assists and two aces powered the visiting Caseys (9-1, 6-0) past the Rockets in Class B North.

Morgan McLoud added two digs and two aces. Mary Yachnik contributed two kills and two digs. For Raritan, Brianna Rinaldi notched three digs and two kills.

ST. JOHN VIANNEY 2, POINT BEACH 0: Gaby Merced’s seven kills and five digs paced the host Lancers (7-2, 4-2) past the Garnet Gulls (1-9, 1-6) in Class B North.

Anne Manganiello added five kills, two digs and two aces. Victoria Wallace contributed 20 assists and seven digs. Haley Scheuer added four kills and two digs. Point Pleasant Beach’s Alexa Russell notched six digs.

FREEHOLD 2, HOWELL 0: Led by Amanda Motigue’s four kills and nine digs, the visiting Colonials (4-5, 2-4) bested the Rebels (3-4, 1-4) in Class A North.

Sara Weiss added four digs and 23 assists. Rebecca Cobb contributed seven kills and three digs. Howell’s Rebecca Franey finished with 14 assists, two kills and seven digs. Sabrina Rittweger added four kills and six digs. Teammate Tara Mircovich notched five kills and scrapped for 17 digs.
