Pingry tennis advances to TOC semifinals

The Pingry School’s girls tennis team advanced to the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions semifinals Sunday, and did so in impressive fashion.

The fourth-seeded Big Blue blanked fifth-seeded Newark Academy 5-0 in Sunday’s quarterfinals. They will face top-seeded Millburn Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Edison’s Garden State Tennis Center.

At second singles, Christina Zajkowski posted a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory. Second doubles also went three sets, with Wesley Streicher and Tiffany Yu prevailing 4-6, 6-3, 10-2.

At first singles, Madison Stevens won 6-0, 6-4. At third singles, Jacquie Jakimowicz triumphed 6-4, 6-0. At first doubles, Avery Hatfield and Jennifer Guo prevailed 6-0, 6-0.

Pingry, which won Non-Public A last week, is making its second straight trip to the TOC semis.
